A discussion of stronger public policies to protect and promote healthy diets: what can the U.S. learn from other countries?

The aim of this paper is to contribute global discussion on public health policies for protecting and promoting healthy diets, as it advancing in the U.S. This assesses specific cases successful policy making from several countries across world, often against industry resistance. We discuss five key interventions: i) food labeling; ii) marketing restrictions school policies; iii) fiscal iv) models classifying (un)healthiness a product; v) interventions address influence conflicts interest policy. also argues how U.S can adapt or adopt some these policies, while preparing challenges ultra-processed that may perceive advances threats its business. conclude by postulating primed advance initiatives have already been espoused law evaluated be effective other countries. will unique challenges, many actors deep political American politics markets, although lessons enable legislative, policy, civil society ecosystems with additional tools strategies progress movement toward defending people’s wellbeing over industry’s profit.
